STOP TB GHANA PARTNERSHIP ON ADVOCACY AT THE BAKATUE 2007
As part of sustained and concerted effort by the Stop TB Ghana partnership which is co-hosted by Afro Global Alliance and the Ghana Society for the Prevention of Tuberculosis to scale up awareness on Tuberculosis, a team of officials headed by Dr. Nicholas de-Heer and Chief Austin Arinze Obiefuna visited Elimina on the climax of the celebration of their annual BAKATUE durbar of the Chiefs and people of Edina traditional area on Saturday 7th July 2007.
The festival which had in attendance over 3000 people from both within and outside the country including Ministers and Parliamentarians gave the partnership the opportunity to lobby the District Chief Executive and the Omanhene of the traditional area to include in their speeches messages about the devastating effect of TB and called on the people to get involved in the fight against TB in order to help nib the menace in the bud.
On the whole, the initiative was a successful one as one of the sub-chiefs sat in a palanquin which was dressed with TB advocacy slogans. Other staffs of the partnership who were part of the trip are Abudu Imoro, Program Manager. Ernest K. Agyepong and Sampson Foli.
